you already know

set me in yellow
and drown me in your blues.
faint as the afternoon breeze,
my wings are falling on you.

you want to hold onto me like a risk
or are we just terrified
of tears and falling,
of butterflies and dragonflies,
of lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies...

know that I want you,
though this is not the song you like,
but you will remember,
when i go and choose left from right.

perhaps it was never about crashing;
leaves could cushion the fall.
the butterfly never bites,
but the mind always forgets.
it was always about failing,
how we'll never learn.

leave the garden
drenched in red.
paint us now a different hue
and outlast the jets.
honey, we're lovers who could only run.
